    |Will this be more recommend, and more stable?

Yes. The "explore gnome desktop" is GNOME 1.4 and is unsupported
and will not be updated/patched for any bug fixes.

GNOME 2.0 went through a long beta cycle, got many bug fixes and
design reviews, and is supported, so patches are being issued to
    fix bugs as people

    |Does this affekt the system stability?

It shouldn't. Those just increased some maximum limits.

I've switched half the Sun machines I maintain to Gnome 2- it is
pretty big, but so far it seems quite stable and a wonderful
alternative to CDE. I've not had any operational problems with it on
    Solaris 9.
