GNOME on Solaris help sought - Sun Solaris

I'm trying to figure out how to get standard GNOME utilities to work and code to build. Default GNOME on Solaris help sought

I'm trying to figure out how to get standard GNOME utilities to work
    and code to build.

What I am finding is this:

    $ pkg-config --cflags libgnomeui-2.0
    sh: gnome-config: not found
Package libxml-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libxml-2.0.pc'
    to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'libxml-2.0', required by 'Bonobo Activation', not found

However, when I checked with my sys admins, they have indicated they
installed what Sun provided for GNOME.

It sounds to me as if _something_ is missing - anyone familar enough
with the sun setup to know what it might be?

    com writes in comp.unix.solaris:
    |Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libxml-2.0.pc'
    |to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

That file was left out of the original packages - you need to add the
libxml patch to get it, specifically, a rev including the fix for:
    4806701 pkg-config fails for libxslt & libxml-2.0

which would be one of these patches (or a newer rev of them):
    114014-03 Solaris 9 sparc
    114015-03 Solaris 9 x86
    114814-01 Solaris 8 sparc
    114815-01 Solaris 8 x86

    According to Alan Coopersmith <calberkeley.org>:

    Thanks- that moved me her.

Is there another patch somewhere that adds gob-2 to a solaris sparc gnome
setup? The configure for gnome package I am attempting to build indicates
that gob-2 is missing and the makefile fails because of that.
