Good books for learning Flash?
Hi,
I'm a software developer interested in learning how to create pages
with Flash. I want a book that'll start with the basics but will also
teach how to do those really "flashy" Flash pages I see in the Net.
Everything I'll be doing with Flash will be for webpage design. I have
the latest version of Flash.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

There are so many good ones hard to pick just one or two. If you're a
software devloper you're already use to the lingo so if you just want
a reference Action Script 2.0 Dictionary (almost a 1,000 pages)
defines the syntax. The first 400 pages serves as a introduction and
gives plenty of examples.
Action Script Cookbook is another good one as most O'Reilly books are.
If you need help with the basics of Flash and not just scripting there
have another that covers that.
Perhaps my favorite is Flash MX 2004 ActionScript. Runs about 700
large 8.5 x 11 pages and the CD has lots of hands on examples. This
book is very well written and assumes you know nothing at all but the
bare bones of Flash, like how to add a layer, drag to the stage, etc..
As you've noticed all the recomendations are for ActionScripting
because that's where the REAL FLASH is in Flash. For the simplistic
basics you hardly need a book, but if you do there are hundreds. Most
I've seen are so simplitic they don't justify the price.

Re: Good books for learning Flash?
Well you would have to learn design to make anything good, just like a flash
designer would need to learn programming and most programmers don't have the
design talent. So I suggest stick with programming
