Good spell checker for Sys. 9 - Mac Applications & Software

Can anyone recommend a good shareware spell checker (mostly for email) that will work with System 9.0? I tried Excaliber but I couldn't figure it out. I need something that is simple to use. I had one once (I forget the name) that would check the spelling and also correct returns, etc. Thank you for your suggestions. Deborah...

A great program. I had their 9.X version and am now using their OS X version.
    Fine Program.

I use SpellTools. You have to download SpellTools 1.3.3 which is for
MacOS 8.x and then the 1.4 updater for Mac OS 9.x. It works almost
anywhere you can type or select text. You may have to set up or activate
a plug-in for your particular applications but that's pretty easy. Also
has some other text manipulation functions besides spell checking.

I agree SpellCatcher is a good checker. However, the thing that turned me off
is that it has to be run as a "stay open" application... it's always there
competing with the finder and other applications to be the frontmost window.
It got so annoying after a while I dumped it.
