Gradient Tool
Is the colour gradient tool available with Macromedia Studio MX / Education Version?
How do I find it? I can not locate it when following the help instructions ... i.e. ... it is not in the Paint Bucket Tool / Properties.

Re: Gradient Tool
With the shape you want to fill selected, click on the down arrow of the
Fill type selector of the Property inspector and choose Linear. Once
that is set, click in the fill color box of the property inspector to
open the gradient editor.
Best regards,

Thank you, got the tool now ... how simple once told!
Now I need some time to work out the detail ... I am working with the Lasso Tool, rather than simple shapes ... assume it is the same. Not getting the desired colours yet, though.

graphics application with a very good bitmap toolset on top. You are far
better working with basic vector shapes or using the Pen tool to create
more complex paths of shapes than to work with pixel selection tools.
Vector objects editing is far more flexible than pixels based bitmap
editing. If you come from a Photoshop background you should realize that
Fireworks' main toolset is much closer to Illustrator's in Adobe's
products line. It has great bitmap tools but the basic workflow usually
involves creating stuff with vector tools and using the bitmap tools
only to edit existing imported bitmap images (at least that's how I
work). I remember what it was like creating shapes with the marquee or
lasso tools in Photoshop and having to start from scratch everytime
something changed... I really wouldn't go back to that... ;-)

Re: Gradient Tool
Thanks Stéphane,
Interesting.
You are right ... I am importing two complex images with the similar coloured background into one.
I may consider to do the "blurring" of the joining area(s) outside Fireworks.
This is great ... I do hope to be able to contribute to the community one day!
