That's a Photoshop job and should be done there.

    Thanks Bob,
I supposed so. Still it would be convenient to do it in InD, or - if possible - see what's happening in InD while editing in Photoshop simultanously.

    Gunnar,

Adobe experimented with a gradient transparency before launching CS, but for some reason did not include it in the final release. You get much more control in Photoshop than you could ever get in InDesign anyway, unless they added painting tools.

What do you base this on?

I agree, you get a better control and result using Phshp. Still I'd like to have the possibility in InD. For example you could use that way for sketching. One great thing with InD is the possibility to mix material from different programs as Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop and so on. Good possibilities to add graph, text, color-plates and more in InD. While mixing all that, it would be very convenient even to use gradient on placed material, just to see the effect. After that you go to the base-programs and make the sharp work.
I do think this is something for Adobe to give one or two thoughts.
