gradient/transparency problem
I have Freehand 10 and am trying to create a gradient wherein there is really only ONE color which fades out across the paper. But FH10 won't let me use none for one of the colors.
I looked up transparency and got some vague suggestion, create a graphic on the background for a mask BUT no step by step explanation.
I tried looking up mask and there is NO "mask" under M in the book.
I can do this in other programs (adobe, Quark) but would rather stick with Freehand for this project.
Help! Please and thanks!

the second color in the gradient. There is a "gradient mask" option in
Freehand MX (one of the raster effects so I haven't used it for anything
used in print.)
