gradient won't rotate

When I rotate the filled object containing the gradient, the gradient won't rotate with it. I have tried several different options but none of them work.
This is occuring in level 9.0 in Illustrator.

make certain you check "Scale Stokes and Effect" And "Transform Pattern tiles" In the preferences.

I'm trying to remember v9 so the preferences may read slightly different.

Scott, in AICS, I can't PREVENT the gradient from rotating. Can you? How do you do
it if you can?

You will have be content with going to the Gradient Palette and resetting the angle to cancel the rotation.

Larry, I'm not discontent at all. I just never remember being able to prevent a
gradient fill from following a transformation like rotate. Patterns, yes, Gradients,
not to my recollection.

There is not really an option as to whether or not to rotate gradients when you rotate a fully-selected object.

It is possible, however, that the gradient is being inherited from a fill on a group, and the whole group is not being rotated. If you have a gradient applied at a group level, it will only rotate if the whole group is rotated.

It was rather easier in AI 9 and AI 10 than it is in AI CS to accidentally get a fill applied at the group level than it is in AI CS.

My gradients do circles.... :) Actually Doug, no. I can't rotate an object independent of it's gradient. I was really, really stretching to remember v9. Sorry i should pass up those 9 questions. I hated that version.

select the object containing the gradient.
go into the apperence tab
along the bottom are some buttons.
click on the one that says "reduce to basic apperence"
problem is fixed :)
