"graphic select" vs "image select" - Adobe Acrobat Windows

With the graphic select tool in Acrobat 4 I was able to drag a marquee to copy a portion of a pdf file to paste into other applications. In Acrobat 6 Standard this tool is called image select and will not drag a marquee or select the pdf graphics in any manner. The manual says it should. I'm using Windows 2k. Any ideas? I need this functionality....

I find that the Select Image tool turns into a cross when it passes over an image. At that point clicking selects the image. Does this not work for you?

No. The cursor doesn't change at all. It's like Acrobat doesn't recognize the pdf as an image. My files are pdf's created from Pro-Engineer CAD drawings. This has always worked fine with Acrobat 4.0.

A file produced with CAD typically won't contain any images at all,
only line drawings and maybe text. So using a tool designed to select
    images won't do anything.

I think the chances are that what you really want is the Snapshot
    Tool.

    Try this doent: <http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdfs/acrobat6matrix.pdf>

You should be able to select one of the pictures of the Acrobat box.

I guess when Adobe changed from "graphics select" to "image select" that functionality was replaced with snapshot. I should have figured that out. Thanks, snapshot is exactly what I was looking for.
