Graphics that force-quit FileMaker
I have run into a re-occurring, spurious force-quit in FileMaker. And it
directly relates to graphic objects that were copy and pasted onto layouts.
I am running an iMac 17" w/OS X v10.2.8 and FMP 6.04 Unlimited. But I was
able to duplicate the problem in Windows XP too.
I have seen this in two different projects with two different graphics.
Nothing huge, just 200 x 200 x 8.
The projects would only crash when the layout with the graphic was
displayed. Both in layout mode and in browse mode! Luckily I was able to
copy/paste the other 12 layouts, scripts and structures into a new
re-constructed database.
I suspect that it is a problem with FMPro and the OS. Has anyone else been
experiencing this problem?
It's making me very gun-shy. I now backup several times a session in
anticipation of this problem. Losing a half a days work because of a crash
and a recover SUCKS!

I remember this being a more stable way to do things. If you need to
Copy a graphic paste into photoshop or some graphics program and save it
as JPG
Yes it does!> Losing a half a days work because of a crash and a recover SUCKS!

Yes, I saw this on the trial version of 6 under XP when I was
evaluating. I wanted to use FMPro to send out mail-merged letters to
clients and was testing it. My letterhead graphic crashed that layout
every time.
Ended up doing the project in Access with Word as the mail-merge
editor. Clunky, but at least it worked!

I contacted FileMaker Tech Support I was asked if I had used a gif
image. To be safe I would recommend using the import graphic command
with BMP or PICT image files.
