Great problems in compiling Apache 1.3.27 on SCO - SCO

I've tried to compile the Apache WebServer 1.3.27 on a SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 computer since a few days. Unfortunatley without any success. 1.) I created the APACI-Configuration file without any options (only the path-prefix: ./configure --prefix=/stime1/ebit/apache ) -> the Apache ran well. 2.) I installed perl 5.005 and mod_perl 1.26 (for Apache-use). 3.) I recompiled Apache with mod_perl ../configure --prefix=/stime1/ebit/apache \ --activate-module=src/modules/perl/libperl.a \ --enable-shared=perl I got a compiler error: i386ld values-Xa.o: unknown flag: Bexport 4.) Apache recompile without shared use (./configure --prefix=/stime1/ebit/apache \ --activate-module=src/modules/perl/libperl.a) resulted in the message, Apache started - but he didn't. and so on, and so on ...

I've tried to compile the Apache WebServer 1.3.27 on a SCO OpenServer
5.0.6 computer since a few days. Unfortunatley without any success.

1.) I created the APACI-Configuration file without any options (only the
    path-prefix: ./configure --prefix=/stime1/ebit/apache
) -> the Apache ran well.

    2.) I installed perl 5.005 and mod_perl 1.26 (for Apache-use).

    3.) I recompiled Apache with mod_perl
    ../configure --prefix=/stime1/ebit/apache \
    --activate-module=src/modules/perl/libperl.a \
    --enable-shared=perl
I got a compiler error: i386ld values-Xa.o: unknown flag: Bexport

4.) Apache recompile without shared use
    (./configure --prefix=/stime1/ebit/apache \
    --activate-module=src/modules/perl/libperl.a) resulted in the message,
Apache started - but he didn't.

and so on, and so on

Does somebody know, how to compile Apache on SCO Open Server 5.0.6 with
    mod_perl and shared modules??
Thank you for your help - Gerhard

I haven't done the full thing, but... the message "unknown flag:
Bexport" indicates that you need to add the flag "-belf" to your CFLAGS
and LDFLAGS (or whatever Apache makefiles use). That is, compile and
    link using ELF format.

PS: this really should have gone to comp.unix.sco.programmer.
