Of course. The problem is that (a) thirds is not always the right
approach, and (b) not all cameras have interchangeable screens.

For composition it is better to use one's eye and one's brain, not
lines on the screen, although sometimes they help to keep vertical
vertical and horizontal horizontal (I hate those pictures that could
be great if only the horizon were parallel to the frame border).
Of course, there is always cropping...
