    Default grouping and moving objects

I seem t be having difficulties with moving objects which are on both separate layers as well as on the same timelines. Question is, is it possible to select objects from separate layers and postion them so that they are inline with another. Also I have this problem when objects are in the same timeline but have individual keyframes. I have attempted to use 'Paste in place' except when going from one movie to another it sometimes doesn't work. And when using the X and Y for placing co-ordinates, if I have a group of movies (which are really tiny (2 frames each JPGs) on the same timeline it will move the frame which is in view but not the rest of the group. Can anyone tell me how I overcome this problem, I cant find anything in the tutorials about this.

    thanks in advance! ;)
