Guides Won't Stay

How do I get my guides to stay on the canvas in Freehand? I do have the
rulers set on the page, but when I drag the guide lines over and release my
mouse, they quickly disappear. In Fireworks this works beautifully. Any
ideas?

Justin,

Make sure that when you drop a guide on the page that your cursor is over the page and not off the edge of the page.

I did ensure that I'm on the page when I release my mouse. But it simply
disappears after I release the button off the mouse. I can definitely see it
when I drag it.

John, I just figured it out. In my layers panel, the guides were below my
foreground. Sorry about that. I've never used Freehand before. Just a
newbie. Thanks for your help.
