Handle name in MIAW? - Macromedia Director Lingo

Is it safe to have multiple MIAW's open that all contain a handler in a movie script with the same name? This is so I can tell a window to do something and use the same code to talk to each window. Hey Arturo,

    I think you misunderstood me, my fault. I will be naming all my windows with
    a different name but all the director movie files that the windows are run
    from will have a handle (in a movie script) which has the same name as
    another handle in the other movies that will be open and running at the same
    time (if you get me ;). I just want to know that if I used;

    tell window("windowA") to runthishandle()
    tell window("windowB") to runthishandle()
    tell window("windowC") to runthishandle()
    etc....

    , that it wouldn't cause some deep dark error in director (like when you
    forget a window from itself).

    AstrO

    PS will it be possible to do this same code in director mx 2004 like this?

    window("windowA").runthishandle()

    Why don´t you assign different names to your different windows?

    window(1).name = "Astro"
    window(2).name = "Boy"

    then in your movieScript handler use a variable to tell the appropiate
    window to do something...

    global currentWindow

    on tellWindow
    tell window(currentWindow)
    signASong()
    end tel
    end

    or you could pass that handler a window name parameter..

    on tellWindow me, currentWindow
    tell window(currentWindow) to
    signASong()
    end tell
    end

    Hi Astro, sorry for misunderstanding...

    I think you can do that. I am currently working on a project that opens
    several windows and they all use common handlers located in my moviescript.
    Until now I haven´t had a problem... May be some one else in this forum.

    I don´t know about that DMX2004 syntax but I read something like that would
    be now available.

    Yes, as long as each movie that's open as an MIAW then each one will have a
    unique instance of that handler. When you tell a window to call or run a
    handler you are designating which instance of that handler to run.
