Hard Disk Update 1.0? - Mac Applications & Software

This item just appeared in Software Update but the description is a bit shorter than usually and there is no link to a technote or anything. I also couldn't find any info about the update on Apple's Web site. Does anybody know what exactly it does? -- Andrew J. Brehm Fan of Woody Allen PowerPC User Supporter of Pepperoni Pizza...

Something about increasing life of some hard drives. Mine (dual G4/450)
    wasn't one of them.

Note of caution: If you run the updater and it says yours is one that
needs it, make a complete backup before you continue. There are reports
of users running the updater and then being completely unable to use the
    drive again.

Dual G4/450 here too. So the original 30 GB drive probably won't need
    it.

    Thanks.

In that case I better don't download it. My newer drive is 120 GB and
playing back the backup would probably bother me than maybe having to
buy a new drive in six years rather than seven. :-(
