Have I been sold a dud? - Adobe Photoshop Elements

Chris Have a look through the links at <http://home.cogeco.ca/~challenge/Links.html> There are tons of tutorials to have a work through. There are many ways to do what you want, using many of the tools, and it would be a better idea to go through a few tutorials first to get the basic idea, before settling on a way that suits you. Chris,

The general idea is to use one of the selection tool (lasso, polygonal lasso, magnetic lasso or magic wand), draw your selection and select either Cut / Paste or Layer / New Layer / Layer via Copy.

Paul is right as well, you would most certainly benefit from reading a few tutorials found on Grant's site.

    HTH!

Thanks to both of you. I didn't really see anything that leapt off the page to me when I started using PE. I did not want to use it for days wasting my time and then be told by the vendor I could not sent it back.
    Thanks again.

Chris, as you become more familiar with the program you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. Definietly would not be wasting your time learning this program. Keep in mind we are here for you night and day...we have an extremely keen forum member who resides in the Land Down Under...she's on vaca at the moment though. Anyways, take it one step at a time.

Thanks folks - I am on the mend, thank goodness. Trip preparation? what's that? I throw everything into a suitcase the night before. As long as we have passports, credit cards and the appropriate number of children, I figure anything else can be bought/acquired en route or done without.
