Toast 6 (just started shipping--my box arrived) will work with both
DVD- and DVD+. The new Pioneer A106 mechanisms support both formats.
You can write multisession on R as well as RW disk types.

With Toast 5.2.1, I wrote multisession DVD-R discs as well.

The A106 is the first Pioneer drive with DVD+ support. Earlier Pioneer
    drives are DVD- only.

Well, I'm using a Pioneer A104 SuperDrive in my iMac. When I record a
Data DVD-R, I got the Session option any time the disc wasn't at almost
full (I never did measure the exact amount that "almost" quantifies).
But, if I went to write 2GB to a new DVD-R, the Session button was
available. I've been switched over to Toast 6 for a week, though, and
    don't intend to go back.

The reason I can't burn multisessions must be that my driver is external,
yours is internal. More things work with internals, iDVD etc. There is some
talk that Toast 6 will burn DVD directly from iDVD 3, if this is true, it
will be good news for the external users, especially those with the patch.
