Default Headline spread over two columns

    Hi forum,
I'd like to have a headline spread over two (or more) columns without placing it in its own text object. How can I achieve this?

    Sven:

What version of Illustrator are you using?

In 10, I'd make a column shaped like an upside down "L", and nestle the other column under the overhang, then have my headline run-on across the top of the "L".

    Hi Sven

Out of curiosity is there a specific reason/situation why you wouldn't just have a seperate text box for the header?

Thanks, Bert. But this means two objects, right?
    I am using CS (v11).
Latchet: The reason why I want to have one object only is - hmmm - unknown. Ive been working on a brochure with several 2-col text blocks each having its own headline. For me it just feels more comfortable to have one object (no adjustment, no linking, easy scalability etc.)

    Sven:

Link the 2 objects, so you can type right through. The type runs on from the headline into the vertical part of the "L", you just have to make the top portion the right height so that the line after the headline jumps into the narrow portion.

Why, thank you, Harron. Although I suppose that the method is "fragile and painful", that's mostly for layout folks to mope about.
