hebrew text, verdona, stroke and other gardening tips - Macromedia Fireworks

FWMX04, winXP I just added some hebrew text to a png using the verdona font (obviously, the windows language support for hebrew is installed on my machine), however if I add a stroke color to the text, the hebrew disappears and is replaced by rectangles. This doesn't happen with Arial. Whats the deal? Anyone? Anyone? Bueler?...

I don't know why it's happening, but if you can convert the text to
paths (Text > Convert to paths) you can probably prevent it from
    happening.

I tried that and "convert to path" actaully had the same effect as adding a
    stroke.
