Default HELP!!!

Hi. I am sort of new to flash at the moment and am trying to get a forum up. I have an online forum at a different location, and it'd be much easier for me to use that forum if possible. I was wondering if there was a way to load a URL in a certain area of my flash movie, so that the person remains at my webpage, and still has the same interface. Basically I need to make a 400X400 transparent box (for example), and when the Forum button is clicked, it loads that webpage into that box, not covering up the entire movie, or completely loading that page and off of my site.

If that is not possible at all, I need major help on creating a forum in flash.
is the current site im developing (definetly not done yet :( )

although I'm new to flash too, i can tell you I've seen this question before on this site, so do a forum search. people dont usually think of searching for their question before posting, but its both your duty and it can be REALLY helpful. also i suggest giving a more descriptive subject, if you want people to read your post.

sorry, it sounds like im dissing you...i dont make it a habit to boss around Navy SEALS ;)

possible searches:
html page
full html
load html
ect.

good luck

Default HELP!!!

Have a client system running WindowsXP Professional SP1.
No domain information shows up at the login screen on this
machine, but attempting to log in - even to the local
administrator account - returns the message that the
domain could not be contacted. Is there ANY way to bypass
this or force a local login, is there a file somewhere
that can be deleted...? The unit is a Dell that crashed,
and Dell sent a replacement unit. We simply ghosted the
information from the old machine's drive to the new.
Putting the old drive in the new system gives blue screens
on boot-up, already tried that one.
Any suggestions????? Please email me at bwelsh@is-op.com
as this is a time-sensitive problem.
Thanks!

to load a forum you need to use a php handler to read your sql database and tell flash how to display it. Being a new person to flash.. I suggest your try to start out with something easier... like a flash guestbook. Same concept, just not as complex.

http://http://www.flash-db.com/

That has a basic flat file guest book, and a basic flat file forum. Good luck.

Default Help!!!

Hi ...

I got a job using Web Publishing(sp_makewebtask) to generate report based on
the data
returned. Lately, I got some funny problem which
never happen before.

*************
Error Message

SQL Web Assistant: Could not execute the SQL statement. [SQLSTATE
42000] (Error 16805) Associated statement is not prepared [SQLSTATE

After I got an alert, I used SQL Query Analyser to run the same store

Can't argue with that, Dave, but you need to learn a few things to get by
like that:

1) Grease the palms. What's in it for us?

2) Lie. Don't say you didn't do your homework--give us a spiel about your
dying mother's last wish was to have a web page with layers or something.

3) Don't cry wolf. Really, ask for the important things. Making a web page
with DW takes all of 5 minutes. Don't wast a feebie on this. Save it for
when you get locked up in the drunk tank.

And if this is a real assignment, it may be time to look at colleges that
actually require coursework to be completely. Your degree at this place may
not be worth a whole lot.

Default HELP!!!

I am building a website http://www.mw-studio.com/objects.html and I am running into problems with stopping a movie. You should probably take a look at the link to better understand! When you rollover the button the line art appears and on release the movie starts. What script should I attach to the other buttons to make this movie stop. The action script will also have to stop the other movies that the other buttons will play. I have tried several different things with no luck. Also, I am an amatuer and also need to know how to make a scrolling menu. I will be adding several more buttons and I want to be able to roll over or click an arrow above and below to show other objects within the same space. Please help me out...thought I would be able to use online resources and have failed to find my answer.

Not sure that answered my question....and I have no idea why you were not able to see the movie. The movie should play when you click on the top button. That is the only movie I currently have up.

I went out and read about the _root script... Should the script be: _root. movieClip _root. action _root. property ????

The way that I have it set up is I have a movie clip and when the button is clicked (on_release) the movie starts to play. Then I want to have the movie clip stop when I roll over any of the other buttons on the right(this is also when the lineart will appear). Hopefully my specifics makes my question a little more clear. You might have already given me the correct answer with the _root script, but I am not at home where I can test it until this evening.

Thanks.

I see a bunch if picture fading from one to another when I click on the top
button. Nothing happens when I click on other buttons. Without some idea of
how you have constructed this, it is just shots in the dark as to what the
problem may be. Are you loading new _levels with new swf's for each button?
Are you trying to use scenes? What scripts are you using on the buttons?
Need more info to be of any help.

If you have a suggestion for how you would do it that would be great, but I currently have it the action on_release GotoAndPlay frame two on the main stage which is where the movie is placed at. I have place stop actions on frame one and two on the main time line so the movie in frame two would not play until the top button is clicked. I do not have any of the other buttons currently up and working. I was trying to figure this out before building the rest of the page, and then finding out the way that I built it was wrong. On the other buttons I have tried putting a stop action on_rollover. This did not work...I am guessing I will have to specify somehow which movies I want to stop playing on_rollover. I am assuming I will put this action on the button and not inside of the button on the rollover state? Thanks again for all of you help!

i think i understand.

i'm guessing, finally, you'll have made four movieclips with the movies of the furniture. and four line art graphics. yeah?

now, i'm assuming that for the next part.

for button #1, you have actions like this:

on (rollOver) {
gotoAndStop (2)
}
on (Release)
gotoAndStop (3)
}

and in frame 3 of the "movieclips" layer (assumption), you have put the movieclip of the chair.
am i right?

Now.

you said that you want to stop this movieclip and display another line art graphic...
well, if each line art graphic was in a different frame, the movie will automatically go to that frame, therefore, you have no need to stop the movieclip.

just put all the lineart and mc's in different frames of the main Timeline, and then assign actions to each of the buttons.

Use loadMovie() to load the jpeg. Make sure it's non progressive. Flash
only supports those.
