HELP! Fuzzy images in AI 9.0
Hi:
I'm creating some full color banner jpg graphics that will be on my web page. I created them in AI 9.0
Here are the image stats. In the Print & Export section it tells me my output resolution is 800dpi. My rasterization resolution is 300ppi and the mesh resolution is 150 ppi.
When I save these images for web, however, they get all blurry. Any idea how I can correct this? I don't believe I've run into this problem before. Is something set wrong?

Your DPI and PPI settings are irrelevent for what you are doing. I suspect that there is nothing wrong, except possibly too much compression in your JPEG image. Remember that your image is only meant to have low reolution screen quality.
If you want an authentic preview of your drawing, use Pixel Preview.

Re: HELP! Fuzzy images in AI 9.0
Scott Falkner: I hope you read this. When you suggest there is , "too much compression in your JPEG image," how do I correct that. Isn't that dpi? Would I not change it to 72 dpi? Also, where can I locate Pixel Preview? Sorry if these are dumb question.

Re: HELP! Fuzzy images in AI 9.0
Scott Falkner: OK, I see how to get into Pixel Preview. it looks awful! I'm not sure how to adjust the resolution. I adjusted it in Document Setup and in View > Rasterize and it still looks bad.

Re: HELP! Fuzzy images in AI 9.0
Can I ask if it's the entire image that is getting blurry, or is it just the strokes or outlines that are getting blurry? If so, it might be the way the art is being antialiased. Try this: Turn off Snap to Pixel in the View menu, select your art and double click on the Selection tool (the black arrow) to get the Move dialog and move your art +.5px in both directions.
