HELP - Grids and Guides Disappear

I'm running InDesign 2.0 on a PC with Windows 2000 Professional.

Recently, I have been unable to see any of the document grids and guides.

The baseline grid won't show up and, if I drag a guide onto the page, it stays blue until I click elsewhere on the page. Then it disappears.

The grid and guide colors in "Preferences" are not set to white, so they should show up on the screen. I have tried checking and unchecking every possible combination under "View" with no luck.

I experience this problem with both new and old documents.

Any suggestions?

when we print the grid disappears on all the pages and it only the pictures show up can you help
