Help, I can't delete color swatches.

I'm using InDesign 2.0.2, Mac OSX platform. I can't delete previously used color swatches from the palette. I have deleted all links that used that color. According to the Help file all I need to do is select the color and drag it to the trash or select "Delete Swatch." But both are grey. I even deliberately went through and manually changed the color of any image that was in that color and yet the trash can and "Delete Swatch" are still grey.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Are these colors in any placed images? if so you can't delete them without deleting the image.

Also check to make sure that any white is not the color that you are trying to delete. If they are any illustrator images make sure you preview the art in the preview mode and there might be an empty text box that might have that color selected even though there is nothing there.
