help: ibook combo drive upgrade...
I have upgraded an iBook (2001/10) CDR to CDRW-DVD using a Toshiba SD-R2002
slave unit. I had to order the bezel separately and insta;;ed it as well to
match the original Apple. The drive can read and write fine. However, it
will not stay shut unless there is a CD/DVD inside. If I attempt to close
it without one inside, it shuts/whirrs for a while (about a minute) and then
spits out the tray... This is a stock model replacement and should not be
giving me any problems - unless of course if the drive is defective. Please
let me know if you have any clues as to what I should do next short of
returning the drive. Thanks. Matt K.
