    Manh,

The camera is worth keeping. If the meter is off only a half stop or so,
don't worry. The shutter speeds in most of these cameras will always be off
slightly, so that should take care of the meter. And if you shoot a lot of
    b/w, then it's really not a problem.

As you've found out, the Retina is a very quiet camera. I've had several of
these for about three years, and my only real complaint is that I'd like
more room on the body on the right side.

If you ever get a chance (that is, expand your photo budget), try a folding
Zeiss-Ikon Contessa. You'll be very impressed by its mechanical and optical
    precision.

Pre-M Leicas are nice little cameras. Excellent machines, though they
require a dedicated photographer, because of the two viewfinder windows and
the need to trim the film leader. The Bessa-R is a very nice camera but not
in the same league as a Leica. Still, Cosina has done a good job of creating
a mid-priced rangefinder with an excellent series of lenses.

If your Retina is in the shop, have them clean and check the calibration of
the rangefinder. It's not a big job, but when a camera's rangefinder is off,
that makes it more difficult to focus precisely, especially in low light.

You know, you've probably started down a path that is nearly endless, as
there are dozens and dozens of great cameras from the 1930s-1960s.
