Default Help me figure out how I did this!!!

Ok, so without being able to show anyone, what I have is a highly pixelated black and white head shot of myself. Mosaic, except w/ no grout and all the pixels are solid squares. Picture a close up shot of any Nintendo character, now in black and white. I have NO idea how I did this since it was over 2 years ago and all I know is I used earlier versions of Illustrator (8 I think) and Photoshop (5 maybe). I believe I worked almost exclusively in Photoshop, but I may have finished up in Illustrator. It's driving me friggin nuts....any help would be monsterous. Thanks.
