Re: HELP no help in indesign!
All users need to read Help to use the software and it doesn't work, so we have to find the help file manually. In my case it opens the HTM Help file in Notepad! Please test your products better for obvious bugs like this one before taking people's money, Adobe!!!
BTW make a shortcut to it here:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS\Help\help.html"
Name your shortcut as "InDesign CS Bug"

Semantics. Just make sure you order the Windows version if you're on Windows. Bob -

Re: HELP no help in indesign!
I for one didn't discover this "bug" until someone else posted it. I
still don't know when I lost F1.
I don't consider it a problem at all and I have a shortcut in my
quicklaunch toolbar to get to it. If you find this to be that big a
problem, I suggest switching to Quark. You can get the help menu quite
easily there.

Re: HELP no help in indesign!
And if you want to complain to Adobe, you are better doing so direct. This
forum isn't Adobe, it's Adobe customers like you.

Re: HELP no help in indesign!
I can use F1 to get help (and my recents are still here today after daylight savings), but I think I will use the advise here to set up a favorites anyway. If I already have Explorer up and open to a page, and go to help through InDesign, it brings up the help on the current window I am on, instead of making a new window. Just now I went into ID to test to see if my F1 worked, and lost this site. I had to come back to it manually. (I know I could have hit the back button, but I forgot and closed out the window first) I'm assuming my annoyance is a Windows Problem. Of course I always assume that, because it is usually a safe assumption.

Re: HELP no help in indesign!
With ID 2.0 I remember there as an issue with AVG anti-virus that avoids ID to open help files through F1 or menu command. This may still be occurring with version 3.0x and some anti-virus. Anyway, this "no help" issue is very easy to workaround as already pointed here.

Yyyaah! Thaankyu.
Unfortunately for me I can't make that switch. My F1 key and the help menu both work. :( hehehehe

Re: HELP no help in indesign!
Good News:
Help is now working after installing "Adobe InDesign CS 3.0.1.exe".
I have ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5.538.001 on my system and it blocks InDesign CS from openning the help file "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS\Help\help.html" without giving me any alert at all. Using Task Manager I'm able to see what's going on and correct the problem.
Not sure if this could be one of the causes that make InDesign CS Help broken.
