    Default HELP: Partial publish problem

In a few instances my client has gone to edit a web page, went to publish, and
only a PARTIAL part of the file was uploaded or the file resulted in no bytes.
How does this happen and how can we avoid this? I'm not sure of the solution.
    This is urgent. Thanks!

Looks like your client has a similar issue to mine. (see my post)
He's tried two computers on his network using version 4 and ends up with a
zero byte file. I have no such problems using version 3 on my network updating
    the same website.
Don't really think it's a Contribute 4 issue as everybody would be having the
    same issue. Clearly their not.
Looks like a network/security probem to me as Contribute is able to download
the file (as a draft) but unable to replace the original file on the server
there by creating a zero byte file. Looks like Contribute works by emptying the
original file before overwriting it. I suspect the network is blocking upload
    but not the download.

Should know in a couple of days as someone is checking out his network then.

Thanks for your reply. The problem is that it works MOST of the time. This
has happened with 2 (very different) clients (in different companies). I
    wonder if it's a version 4 bug.

    Can someone enlighten us?

If you figure it out please let me know...

    Thanks....

The client's network was checked today. He did have an issue but was only
related to connectivity of some laptops.
Problem still exists. This is a new installation and Contribute 4 has never
    worked for him.
The guy checking the network installed WS FTP and was able to transfer files
back and forth without issues. No network problems there.
Next step is that the client is going to try his laptop with version 4 on my
network and if ok try version 3 on his network.
Yes it is looking like a version 4 issue at this stage but I'll know more in a
    couple of days.
The question is what recourse does he have if it is a software bug?

Thanks for the update. I strongly believe it's a Contribute 4 bug or
    something. Why?

I have 2 clients using v4. BOTH in totally different companies. This has
    happened to both of them.

I bet this is a bigger problem than just us 2. Let me know what you find out.
    Thanks!

    Nothing conclusive yet but.
We both downloaded the trial version of Contribute 4 and installed.
The client ran this trial on his network. Failed with the same problem.
I ran the trial on my network. Worked ok.
Next step is for him to run his laptop on my network.
We both have differant ISP's and modem/router setups.

    I'll keep you posted.

    Still nothing conclusive yet.
The client ran his laptop with Contribute 4 on my network. No problems at all.
Looks like a problem with Contribute/router/modem/ISP at his place.
Could be a bug in Contribute yes but only when combined with something in his
    connections.
FTP works ok uploading and downloading outside Contribute though.

I'll pass on when I know more.

    robertnzana.
Problem has beeen located and fixed.
Turned out out to be the Billion modem router. Current model.
In the end a firmware update fixed the problem.
Other than with Contribute it performed with out issues.
Must have been a glich with the firmware and Contribute combination.
So replacing the modem/router may quickly fix the problam your having also.
Or firmware update. Both quick to try.

Thanks for your response. Was it a wireless router? Thanks again...

    Yes. Combination modem/wireless router.
Didn't do the job myself just isolated where the problem was.
Let the guy who installed it sort it out.
I'll let you know the model when I find out. Just know it was a Billion.
