Default HELP!! Reading merged files saved in "Save as optimizes for fast web view"

Merged 2 PDF's together with 5.0 using the "insert page" feature.

The "save as optimizes for fast web view" box was checked when the merged files were saved.

When trying to open the files from within Adobe 5.0 or Reader, message displays that says "There was a problem reading this document (14)".

I assume this is because it's optimzed for web viweing because I can read the document through my IE browser.

    QUESTION -

How do I convert these files to be readable from within Adobe Reader?

merging PDF files has always been a bit hairy. Here's how you can make it less painful:

    - make sure the PDFs have the fonts embedded
    - make sure your documents are using the "true" italic/bold/bold italic versions of your fonts. some applications *coughwordcough* will actually create custom fonts to "fake" an italic/bold/bold italic style using the normal version of the font. These custom fonts play havoc with PDF merging.

Basic rule of thumb: if you don't see the bold, italic, or bold italic version of a font listed in Start > Control Panel > Fonts, don't use those styles in your source application.

    - If possible, merge the documents in the source application and convert as one PDF. This almost always gives better results than merging the PDF files afterwards.

    - Consider upgrading to Acrobat Pro 6.0.1. With the 6.0.1 update, it tends to do a fairly good job of merging PDF files that work both in the browser and in the dedicated Acrobat screen.
