Default Help wanted with video and transparancy

    Hello
    I seek for help

I want to import a avi or quicktime movie in Director on top of a (forrest image) background layer
after that i want to make the black ( or white) background from the video file to become 100 % transparant and leave the 3D character in tact

example i want to use a 3d character animation ( avi file) to work as a avatar on top of a background layer

someting like bleu screen in video

    Can someone help me ?

I don't believe what you are trying to do can be accomplished. For one, you
would have to turn of DTS (DirectToStage) which is not recommended, second,
you cannot apply effects such as that to a video cast member.

I would recommend going back to the source (before the AVI was created) and
output to a Flash (SWF) file. You can then retain your transparent
background as well as probably have better playback.

There may be more experienced "video gurus" that can help you out, but here is what I know about what you are attempting:

    1. if the video incorporated is set to DTS, you cannot use the filters such as invisibility on that sprite, since the point of DTS is to bypass all those filters to increase playback quality.

    2. if you use the video as a layer, you can set the "background invisible" filter and choose the exact color associated with your background to remove it (theoretically), but you will likely end up with anti-aliasing borders around your character and splotchy transparency if the background is not 100% one color... and playback quality will be poor on average or lesser machines.

There may be other ways to do this in the video file itself, so hopefully you can get feedback here regarding that.
