    Default Help with Graphs

I have created two graphs in Illutrator CS. One with 10 bars the second with 5. By default the second graph's bars are twice as wide as the first one. How do I change the value of the bars in CS so they both match?

    Please help. It's urgent.

    Thanks y'all.

    Default Re: Help with Graphs

Illustrator draws the width of the bars based on how many there are fitting in the overall width of the graph. Draw your graph with 5 bars, and copy it. With the copy selected, go to Object - Graph - Data and enter the data for the 10-bar graph. the resulting chart will be the same size as the first one, but each of the 10 bars will be half as wide as the those in the first one.

    Gary,

But it sounds like Dimitry wants the bars in the 5 bar graph to be just as narrow as the ones in the 10 bar graph, presumably with more white space between them.

    Dimitry,

With your 5 bar graph selected, choose the Graph>Type command, and in the options dialog, change the "Column Width" from 90% to 45%. This will make your 5 bar graph have narrow bars with lots of white space between them.

There are two options which control the width of the bars. The Cluster Width option specifies what percentage of the possible area is devoted to each block of columns for one row of data. The Column Width option specifies what percentage of the possible area within the block is devoted to each column in that row. (You can even get overlaps by making the widths more than 100%.)
