help with illustrator9.0

when i click on "help" i click on "top issues..." and it says some files are missing . asks if i want to install i click "yes" and the download starts, file 1 seems to complete, but it freezes for a few seconds on the second file then just poof it's gone! nothing . i try again to see it its ok but the same thing says i'm missing files for it ,ect. ect. ect. this is adobe illustrator 9.0 i just bought it and registerd it with adobe i'm running windows xp home? thank you for any help ,i dont know much about this program at all only that bert monroy uses it and photoshop to create his photorealistic art id like to try to learn how .

The Adobe Online Manager has always been a bit of a disaster, and seldom
works properly.
