Help with Missing Fonts
Hello all,
This is my first time working with the InDesign software. I have received a little training and understand a few basics.
I am a bit confused about the missing fonts message I keep receiving when opening an existing indesign document. Could someone tell me how I can obtain the fonts that I am missing?
Thank you.

Re: Help with Missing Fonts
The short answer is buy them.
The more reasonable answer is to ask whether the document was created on the
same machine that you are opening it on. If not, then it is likely that the
creator had access to fonts that are not on your machine, and your only
options are to buy those fonts, or to change them to something else.
If the document is being opened on the same machine that created it, and
fonts are showing as missing, you may be suffering from a known but not
fully understood gremlin that is known to skulk in InDesign. Before wasting
a lot of time and energy in trying to flush out this gremlin for you it
might best if you came back with a bit more detail on where the document
came from and what you are trying to do with it.

Re: Help with Missing Fonts
Ken,
I really appreciate your quick response. Perhaps a little background infor would be helpful. The document was created on another computer (the company we use to print the publication). My company is moving towards making a lot of changes in house instead of periodically sending updates to the printer company.

Re: Help with Missing Fonts
Then it sounds as if those fonts are just not present on your computer, so
you need to obtain them. As an extra check, note down the fonts InDesign
reports as missing, then look in Windows>Fonts and see whether they are
there.
