Help with page numbers
I'm trying to put page numbers on a 10 page document in ID by going to the Master page- but all I get are page numbers on some pages. I used the insert auto page number command. Anyone explain how to do this simply- all I want are page numbers on each page. I should not have to place them on each page! Help appreciated

Re: Help with page numbers
Your question is vague so I will do my best to help with the information you’ve provided. There really isn’t a short and easy way to explain this that I know of so you will have to have patience and read everything I’ve written. Maybe it will help if you print this and read it as you work on your document.
Let’s suppose the 10-page document is set up as facing pages and your master shows two pages; you will need to add the auto page number on both sides. This also depends where you want the numbers to appear. If you want the numbers to show up on the outsides of each page you would insert the page number in the left master on the left side and your right master on the right.
Go to the first page in that document and click Layout>Numbering and Section Options.
Note: Ensure you are doing this step in the first page of the document or the results may not turn out as desired.
Once you have defined the numbering in those fields properly your page numbers should appear on all the pages in sequence.
I can’t really tell you what to put in the fields for the window that will pop up since I am not exactly sure what type of numbering you would like so you are going to have to try to understand the following examples of how this works.
You can also type something you would like to appear on all the pages in front of the auto page number character in the master pages i.e. [Page A] (A being the auto page number symbol) and your pages will look like Page 1, Page 2, Page 3 etc. If you are working with chapters, you can add the chapter number, ID or whatever (up to 8 characters long) in the Section Prefix field i.e. chapter 5 could be defined as 5- in the Section Prefix field and your page numbers would look like Page 5-1, Page 5-2, Page 5-3 etc.
