Help with placing footers in Indesign - Adobe Indesign Windows

It is safe to say I am a novice with InDesign. Our company has contracted with another compay to sell them training material--we use word--they use InDesign and we have agreed to transfer all material to InDesign. We have footers in our word doents. I have not found any help in placing these and when I imported my text from Word, the footers did not show up. Also, does a doent have to be in a book form to make a table of contents? Thank you for your help....

Place footers on the bottom of your master pages: they will appear on each page. Make another masterspread without footers.

A doent does not have to be in a book to make a TOC.

You need InDesign CS2 for footnotes. Then File>Place - check "show import options", select your word file, after that check "footnotes" again and flow the text. That's it - if You have InDesign CS2...

My mistake - I misread. Of course footers, not footnotes. Silly me...
