Default Helvetica always embedded in my pdf's??

I'm creating pdf's using Indesign CS (3.01) and Acrobat Distiller (7.0). I create a postscript file from Indesign and then make the pdf in Distiller. We then send the pdf's to various newspapers and every once in awhile one of them gets a font missing error on their end with Helvetica being the missing font even though we never use it in our documents. When i check for font usage (under document properties) the font is in the pdf but I dont understand why it would be if its not in the original file.

Do a "find font" (or the equivalent) on the original file.

It could be somewhere in a space, a style...etc.

The Helvetica is used in printer's marks created in InDesign. It should be embedded in the PDF file.

You might also want to switch to doing direct export (File->Export) from InDesign to create your PDFs. They will be higher fidelity and take a LOT LESS TIME (and trouble) to create.

If sending to newspapers I would not use exporting. The exporting feature does not work well when placed into a third party program to print, like many newspapers do. Try creating a new document if you picked-up one, it will always think the font is there. If that isn't the case try not using printer's marks. Good luck, hope all of the responses help.

    Christina,
on what basis do you make your recommendation?

Given that you can export PDF/X compliant files directly from InDesign, and that publishers such as Time inc ONLY TAKE PDF/X documents - I don't see where you are coming from.
