Hey layers gurus-need an eye here
This is my first "real" attempt at using layers.
www.billraydrums.com/7_19_03/new.htm
Please take a look-see and give me some hints as to how to utilize other
extensions to handle the layers.
Couple of questions:
Nested Layers- yay or nay? What's the strength/weakness factor?
Also, Would I benefit at all from using "prevent overlaps", vis-a-vis the
many "onMouseover" behaviors due to all the Layer animagic attached?
Look forward to your answers!! :)

I would start using flash. You have a whole lot more features.

Re: Hey layers gurus-need an eye here
Hi,
Not a layer guru - but here's my stab at your questions....
I think you're having similar problems to the post you made a couple of days
ago "Swapping Layers".
Like that page originally - if you go out of sequence with your nav ie
directly from music to about something funky is going on to your graphics
button.
Also you should be applying the animagic to the images - not the layers.
A closer layer might be a good idea with a shim inside, attached to the shim
have the necessary animagic going on to reverse all layers to their original
positions and hide the closer layer itself.
If your going to nest layers - then you should download Yaro's Layer2Style
extension - http://yaromat.com/dw/?t=Command&r=layers - PC only extension.
HTH
Cheers

Re: Hey layers gurus-need an eye here
Yeah your help earlier got me through. :)
Anyhow this is my first attempt at creating the nav elements that I did and
I just wanted to see if there was an easier way. :)

Re: Hey layers gurus-need an eye here
Hi Bill,
What you're building is almost like what PVII do with their commercial
extensions MM1 and MM2. - or Menu Magic1 - Menu Magic 2........
http://www.projectseven.com/shop/index.htm
I'd consider the benefits of taking the commercial products against time
spent building from scratch - I'll bet it'd pay off on one site sale!!
I did something similar to what your doing on this site........
http://www.projectseven.com/shop/index.htm
take the page if you want - it may help you with your ideas - certainly a
closer layer (in my opinion) is a must!!
Cheers
