    Press the Tab key. If your MX isn't set up that way, you can assign the
    keystroke of your choice in the prefs.

    I have Tab assigned to one of my extra mouse buttons.

    Actually, I tried TAB before, but it hides the Tools and the Properties
    too...
    I wish there was a better way.....maybe in the next version of Fireworks.
    Dreamweaver MX is much better in this field.

    Shift+F9 will hide the colors window.
