HIViews and IB - Mac Programming

If you create an HIView object in IB, it says it will be ignored in 10.2 or earlier. I know you can create one in code for 10.2, but what's the best thing to use as a place holder rect? Is the technique usually to save the layout rect of the dummy object, and delete and replace it with an HIView object?...

    Perhaps I should rephrase that.

If using HIViews in 10.2, what is usually done in IB to help place it?
Place anything, and then replace it in your code?

I'm under the impression that 10.2 has poor support for HIViews; that
they simply don't work well in 10.2, and that is why PPx is for 10.3 and
    up.

So you're saying I should just avoid them. Cool, another technology I
won't have to learn for a while.

I think you are off by one. My understanding is that PPx is 10.2 and up and
HIViews are mostly functionaly in 10.2.

You are much more likely to be right about this than me.
