How do I create a custom stroke?
I want to create a stroke that has a shape on it, ie square block which follow a circle path. How can I do this in Illustrator 10? I can't seem to figure it out and the manual is not much help.

Re: How do I create a custom stroke?
you could use the dashed line facility under the stroke dialog box.
Say set the stroke thickness to 15pt and then set the stroke gap to 15pt and you have squares along a path 15pt square.
Thats one way.

You can also create a custom brush or create a blend and and replacing the spine if is a certain number of objects. The manual tells you how to do this.

Re: How do I create a custom stroke?
How are the stroke styles that come with Illustrator created?
I actually want to create a non standard shape that runs along a path and not a sqaure so using the dash method would not work, sorry if I confused the situation by saying a square.

Re: How do I create a custom stroke?
You can create whatever you want the stroke to look like, group it and drag it into the brush window. Then it will prompt you on what type of brush you would like to create. I would choose either scatter brush or pattern brush. You may have to mess with the spacing until you get it just how you want it.
