How do I create a screen w/ adobe products ??
Hi,
I need to create a screen 50-72 dpi, at about 10 percent.
I would like it to "fill" a rectangle, but in general, I would just like to know how to define one. I am running Pagemaker 6.5 Illustrator 9.0, and photoshop LE 4.0, and I have a postscript printer, so I could use any/all of these to make it. It is just a screen I want, not to "screen" an image.
I have looked, but not found anything to do this. Ideally it would show in the file itself, and not just print a screen on a postscript printer (if you know what I mean). Is there a plugin, or something I need to have in addition to what I have, or can I do it with just what I have now.?
Hope you can help me..
Sincerely, David Kimbley

Re: How do I create a screen w/ adobe products ??
You just want to screen a rectangle? That's easy enough.
If you're in PageMaker, draw your rectangle. Hit CTRL-J to bring up the color dialog. Apply the color you want to the rectangle, then change the tint to 10%.
In Illustrator, draw your rectangle. Select the stroke and set it to none. Select the fill, then open the "color" dialog. Apply the colour you want (it will have to be a spot colour, and not a CMYK or RGB process colour) and then drag the slider to the 10% mark (or just fill in the percentage box with "10")

Re: How do I create a screen w/ adobe products ??
I found a way to do it.. but what I wanted to do was to specify the number of dots per inch, and to actually make the 'screen' in the document... of course, if you print a rectangle filled and lightened, the printer will come up with a screen for you, but I wanted it to appear in the document.. --on the monitor screen. I did find a way to do it.. in photoshop. If the rectangle is filled, and lightened (and is in gray mode? --whatever it is called --not bitmap,) then you can go into image, and convert it to bitmap.. and it will ask you want frequency you want the screen to be.
Thanks for the help anyway.. Anybody know any other ways to do this?

Yup, but this applies to the whole file.

Unless you're using CS. Then this won't work...
