How do i create tell a movieclip to move to a frame in the original .swf file?

Hi all,

I am a relative beginner to flash mx 2004. In my attempt to create a
navigation menu using a movieclip on a different depth I have run into a
tremendous amout of difficulty figuring out how to make the navigation
movieclip affect the behavior of the original .swf file.

I assume that I am missing something rather simple but after 3 hours of
trying I am becoming somewhat frustrated. I have read about _parent,
_level, and _root. In each case I am unable to change the frame position on
the original .swf file.


Any idea's?
