How do I get reader 6.0 to open files in preference to acrobat 4.0
I have a full version of Acrobat 4.0 reader and writer but have installed reader 6.0 and whenever double click a pdf file acrobat 4.0 reads it, no reader 6.0. I need to keep the writer in 4.0 so can't uninstall it, is there a way I can get 6.0 to read the files in this case?

That's a function of the operating system, not Acrobat. Change it in your OS.

Re: How do I get reader 6.0 to open files in preference to acrobat 4.0
There are 2 associations: The windows file association and the IE data handler.
For the former, right-click, sleect "Open with," and "Choose Program." Select Reader and make sure the "Always use this" box is checked.
For handling web files via IE with Reader, you'll need to find a registry hack that allows this. The program is set up to always use the full version of Acrobat if you have it installed.
