Default How do I make shrubs?

Newb here. I'm have I v8.0 and would like to know how to create shrubs, grass and leaves on trees.

I fooled around with the hatch effects filter for grass, but can't get blades of grass to come out of the bounding box.

I'm not interested in the look of the Laurel pattern brush that came loaded into the program - I want the tree to look somewhat like it was drawn.

Also, is there anywhere to go on the internet to get free downloads of Illustrator artwork?

Many, many thanks to any helpful hints.

    Rose,

Basically, what you create is what you get.

I want the tree to look somewhat like it was drawn.

If you draw it, it will.

I do not know of such downloads, but you may start looking here:

    Rose (Bush? ;))

In Illi 8.0 it is a little harder thatn in the 3 latest versions that include styles and symbols (which I have yet to find a use for... Maybe I should try them out? Anyone here have good luck with them?). You may want to just spend a little time drawing a few good and different leaves, then copy and paste them in different directions. The best way to do this quickly is to hold down ctrl when you drag an object. This creates a copy. Then stretch and rotate the leaves and then eventually you will have enough to do more then one at once. Repeat as needed until you have a enough.

    That would be [Alt] [Ctrl]

Oops, my bad, long day at work. But I played around with the above technique (using the right button of course ;)) and it doesn't take to long to get a good looking bush. Have fun.

They all feel the same when you're using them. :)

The finger knows, sometimes the mouth gets the message wrong.

Of course, as you typed [CTRL] maybe that doesn't hold true...

And they don't alllll feel the same, the "F" and "J" keys feel different...
