    Hi all,
Just a quick question - I have an object that I had scanned in and proceeded to clean up the surrounding background in PS CS...now my aim is to place that image on another drawing that I have done in illy cs..the problem i am having is that it is still including an area of white background around it...its doing my head in because i know ive achieved this before..I should mention here that there is one layer only in the layers palette in ps - and that is the image itself..behind the image is the checkerboard pattern - as i was aware that this area should be transparent..hmmm..doesnt make sense to me why the white area or bounding box is coming up around it when opened in illustrator??

    can anyone help..pleeeeeeeeeeeease..im going nuts!
    thanks in advance

    Lyn,

How are you getting your image into Illustrator?

If you use the Place command in Illustrator and directly place the Photoshop file, linked, it will preserve the Photoshop transparency. You can also export a file from Photoshop in any format that preserves transparency, just as PNG. If you Copy-Paste or drag-and-drop, it will not preserve transparency. Most applications don't handle transparency data, so the clipboard format doesn't contain it. JPEG format also doesn't support transparency, and TIFF only supports it by way of clipping paths.
