Re: How do I work with Dreamweaver and Contribute at thesame time?
the basic idea is that dreamweaver can work with contribute as long as certain
settings are enabled (check-in/out). if you go to "manage sites", select the
site you have contribute set up with and then go to the advanced tab - there is
a contribute page. that has a checkbox to enable contribute. check the box and
it should prompt you that you need to enable a bunch of setting - check in/out,
design notes, etc - to work with contribute. let it go ahead and enable them
and you should be all set up. also on that contribute screen there is also a
button to "administer contribute" - if you click that it will actually open
your contribute software and show you the administration windows. so it's
possible to work only in dreamweaver and have dreamweaver open contribute when
you need to do admin tasks.
from then on the only difference in dreamweaver is that you'll have to
check-in and check-out files to work with them. this keeps dreamweaver from
overwriting contribute user changes and vice versa. and then when you upload
them to the site, all the contribute (and dreamweaver) users will see the new
pages/changes. it should not mess up your site at in, in fact the only way to
work in template and more complex features is through dreamweaver.
i'm still relatively new to all this macromedia stuff, but hope this helps!
