How do you subdivide a page into 4 quarters in Indesign? I wrote a book in WordPerfect that is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" or one quarter the size of a letter size paper. This will allow me to get 4 "page 1's" up on one side and 4 "page 2's" up on the other side, etc.. Wp will allow subdividing pages, but, won't allow me to force that many page numbers and it bombs after page 86. Even the latest version of wp won't allow it. So... I'm trying Indesign (tryout) to see if I can format my book that way. I can't seem to figure out how to subdivide a page into 4 quarters and number each page 1,1,1,1 2,2,2,2 and so on.

Can anyone help? thanks, mike ompc@netzero.net

This is called Imposition, and there are some simple programs that offer this (InPosition from ALAP was a QaurkXtension) and some very expensice ones. The easiest solution would be to make your document normall, as 4 or 8 pages. Export it to a PDF and impose the PDF in a second imposition file with each page imported and rotated as needed. This is ideal as it lets you work on the file naturally and use automatic page numbers. The imposition file can be separate, and the links will update if you make changes to the master file and export a new PDF.
