AutoCad doesn't have line weights they have pen nibs instead.

    It is outdated but.

When where you ever able to get these pen nibs automatically converted to stroke weights. Unless you mean something else?

    Michael,

This is how I do it. I save out of AutoCAD 2002 to version 14. I open it into Illustrator CS2. (I think it works in 10 as well)

The lines come in as stroked lines. I then either leave them as strokes, or I outline them. Perfect every time.

What is your process? What version of cad are you using?

...and other posts on this same subject implied that exporting to a CAD format made ALL strokes .709 points or some such nonsense.

I do not really know since I do not work in this arena, but I surmise that strokes do not exist in the CAD world unless you expand them and turn them into paths.

If you have acrobat professional, you can export your CAD file complete with layers to pdf and open that in IL. The line widths should be ok.

Technically, you need to print to a file, pdf or eps, in order to use the
lineweight options in the AutoCAD plot style.
