Default How Do you make a bevel Sharp?

I am having a hard time trying to do this.

I am new to print design and I have been using Fireworks but figured it was time to try and use a program ment to do this.

I want a sharp bevel like in fireworks. But am I mistaken in thinking even though it looks blurry it will turn out sharp in print?

    Thanks

    Mike

I assume you're using FreeHand MX's bevel raster effect. Set the resolution
in File>Document Settings>Raster Effects Settings. The default is 72 ppi,
suitable for web images. When printing, use a resolution appropriate for the
kind of print output you're designing for. The higher setting will slow down
redraw, so you may want to postpone resetting the ppi until print time.

Be aware that FreeHand's raster effects use RGB colors, so be prepared to
deal with color shifts when outputting to CMYK separations.

    Judy,
You solved my problem immediately! Thanks for the informative post. Wonder why the default is so low? I just wish I had known this a week ago. I wrestled with an image FOREVER and finally just sent off what I had.

Glad that helped! I think the default raster effects setting is low so that
redraw won't be excessively slow on older machines. Raster effects redraw
very slowly on my G3/533Hhz. I would never be able to work at 300 ppi at the
    snail's pace this stuff redraws.

Resolution of 72 ppi is suitable for web work, and the RGB limitation raster
effects usefulness for for CMYK print work. I don't use any of the raster
effects for my work (which is mostly spot colors) but if I did, I'd be
giving FHMX an accessory -- a Dual 2 GHz G5.

Pretty good accessory. I'm working on the 1.8G G5 and absolutely love it. It's almost changed my computing experience completely. I went for the higher end graphics card in it, and the 300dpi raster effects option doesn't even cause it to burp...
